南宋时，在罗丞相府内做木匠的张煜 ，得知罗公子斗蟋蟀赢了许多银子，好奇地去偷看罗公子的那只蟋蟀。不料刚揭开盆盖，蟋蟀就逃掉了。罗公子大怒，打了张煜一顿，还要他三天之内赔偿蟋蟀，否则就要他的命。张 煜走投无路，被迫投河自杀，恰巧被 济公救起。济公佛法无边，他知道张 煜口袋里还剩三文钱，拿去买了一只 半死的蟋蟀，便去找罗公子，扬言他的蟋蟀能斗大公鸡。。One day, thinking that it will make your wife and friends smile, you shave off the moustache that you have had for the last ten years. Viewers who like their conclusions tidy may rebel, but those who relish outstanding performances in the service of an intriguing idea will be entertained.
