讲述一个酗酒的穷阿伯,由早上开始头痛心口痛, 多次call救护车,却遇上这天发生大车祸，医院应接不暇，搬出种种藉口拒收。好心的救护员陪着他走遍四家医院，眼看他病情每况愈下，却苦无力相救。。这部电影以发生在冲绳阿嘉岛民宿中被饲养的雄犬“白”（Shiro）为原型改编而成。白为了与生活在对岸座间味岛的恋人雌犬“玛丽琳”（Marilyn）相会，勇敢地游过大海。这一感人故事启发了这部作品的创作。原作和剧本由野泽尚撰写。饰演白的主角是真正的白犬，而由于拍摄时真正的玛丽琳已经去世，因此采用了同品种的另一只狗来扮演她的角色。。Beto is a lonely man who works as Ranger of the isolated Peninsula Valdes' National Park (Chubut, Argentina).
