武州市公安局刑侦支队长田鹏是一个远近闻名的神探，他思维缜密屡破疑案，是警队“精神领袖”级人物。新到警队报到善良热情的黄宜轩家庭条件优越，心直口快的剩女郑琼等刑警构成了疑案侦破的核心团队。田鹏是个典型的妻管严，在老婆叶英面前大气不敢出，更曾因办案耽误了儿子小田的高考，父子间产生严重的隔阂。通过色狼案、南瓜投毒案、校园杀人案田鹏与儿子的危机有所缓解，但一宗麻醉抢劫案却牵出了令人畏惧并逃遁多年的悍匪廖铁。正当廖铁威胁到叶英和小田生命之际，田鹏及时赶到将其击毙，历经生命的考验，田鹏一家人紧紧相拥，郑琼与黄宜轩的姐弟恋情也似乎好事渐近。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
