该剧设定在幕府为财政进行享保改革时期，有江户幕府“中兴之祖”、“暴坊将军”之称的德川第八代将军德川吉宗的时代，讲述作为他的精神支柱一直在背后默默支持他的侧室久免的人生故事。。好幻想的科学家Janos Rukh说服另一群科学家和赞助者去非洲进行探险，目的是寻找和研究一颗远古的陨石，该陨石具有非同寻常的价值。Janos暴露在陨石的有毒辐射中，幸得医生Benet发明的解毒剂把救回来，但是他与其他人的接触可令到他们马上死亡。回到伦敦后，医生Be net利用陨石的可控制射线，来恢复盲人的视力。解毒剂的毒性激起了Janos Rukh教授的偏执式暴怒，他对探险队的成员进行报复，并指责他们，为个人荣誉而偷走了他的发现。Cecilia went away to learn dance at a Baltimore dance academy.
