该剧改编自张宇所著同名小说，讲述了由锅炉工变为专管抓小偷的民警，于富贵在工作上兢兢业业，抓小偷时奋不顾身，被誉为“反扒专家”。但在感情上却处处显出软弱的本性，与小姨子还有一段难以理清的暧昧关系的故事。在一次意外的升迁后，他陷入了迷惘……。Birdcatcher Esmar and his wife Johanna face eviction from their farm in Gásadalur unless they have a son. Desperation sets in when Johanna gives birth to their third daughter. Pushed to the brink, Johanna is impregnated by another man, a French Captain, and gives birth to a son, known as ‘the birdcatcher’s son’. Everything seems perfect until the French Captain returns.。
